Farewell to Ben Fitchett

The funeral of a popular 14-year-old from Rochdale who died after falling from a motorway bridge will take place on Monday.
The service for Ben Fitchett will be held at St Mary’s Church, High Crompton, at 11.15am, followed by a private burial attended by members of the family.
A Book of Remembrance will be placed at the Crompton House School, which Ben attended, once term starts.
The talented young musician fell from the bridge at Broad Lane on to the M62 eastbound near to junction 20, at 7.20am on Monday 19 August. He died at the scene.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and police have passed the case to the coroner.
Tributes have been left along the bridge, including flowers and scout shirts.
