Testing continues at Scout Moor wind farm

Work on the Scout Moor wind turbines continued this weekend, and the farm is now around half way towards being completed.
At the weekend engineers tested turbine 25 and many of the turbines are now fully built.
The wind farm has been a source of much controversy in Rochdale but as building work continues the turbines are set to become a permanent feature on the town’s landscape.
Norden Councillor Ann Metcalfe led the campaign to stop the Scout Moor development from going ahead. She said: “The turbines are totally overpowering, out of character with the ruggedness of the moorland and will be visible for miles around. It is happening so we have to try and be positive and I hope they will prove to be a benefit to the community, but I very much doubt it."
