Emma Bond receives the Childer Award

Date published: 29 January 2014

Emma Bond has become the latest recipient of the Childer Award.

The Rochdale Childer Award scheme was set up in 2003 with most of the boroughs schools getting involved. During the course of the academic year, each participating school selects a pupil to receive the award as a result of their particular personal achievement.

Emma, from Newlands School in Middleton, received the award as she “always works hard and tries her best at everything.” Staff also commented that she is “always there with a helping hand and is a polite and cheery girl”.

Emma received her award from Keith Trinnaman, Vice President of sponsors Middleton Rotary Club, at a special assembly which her parents and school governors attended.

Upon presenting the award to Emma, Keith said: “This is a particular honour for me, on behalf of Middleton Rotary, to award this to Emma.

“She has been recognised by the school and all of her school friends for her very caring and cheerful manner as well as always being willing to help out throughout the school day.

"Middleton Rotary is very proud to be associated with the school in this way.”

Emma’s award, along with a framed certificate, can now be seen on display in the cabinet at the side entrance of the school.

Janet Barraclough from Newlands School said: “Congratulations to Emma and many thanks to her parents and the governors who attended the assembly.”
