Josefa Terim to run London Marathon

Date published: 11 April 2014

Josefa Terim, a part time lunch supervisor, will be taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for the Suubi Children’s Home in Uganda.

The marathon, which takes place on Sunday 13 April, will see Josefa run 26 miles around London in hopes of raising £1,000 for the charity.

Suubi Children’s Home is run by Helen Jungmayr and her husband Hermann, from Castleton. The charity began in 2005 to support 42 children who were living in the country with no known relatives.

Helen said: “We had a place allocated to use in the London Marathon so we approached Josefa, who is a keen runner, and asked if she wanted to take part for us.”

Any money raised from the marathon will then be used to help run the children’s home. Helen added: “Some of our children are now reaching
secondary school age and that has to be paid for in Uganda.”

The Suubi family now has 33 children all born between 1998 and 2009.

As well as working at St John the Baptist RC Primary School in Rochdale and Link4Life, Josefa is a mum to Rosangela and is a member of Rochdale Harriers Running Club.

“She has been preparing for the marathon and has had a lot of support from us and her running club who have been helping her prepare,” added Helen.
