St Michael’s uniformed group receive £300 from Middleton Rotary Club

The uniformed groups at St Michael’s Church have been awarded £300 from the Middleton Rotary Club.

The funding awarded to the groups, which includes brownies, beavers and scouts will now be used to help fund a new roof on the meeting hut in the grounds of the church.

Money was awarded to the group after they applied for the Rotary Clubs Dragon’s Den Initiative.

Peter Hayward from Middleton Rotary Club said: “It was an easy decision to award them with the money. They often take part in our initiative and we are very keen on supporting youth projects.”

Money awarded to the group came from the Christmas street collection organised by the Rotary club.

“The money then has to be split between a number of causes and shared out between different winners with everyone getting a different amount,” added Peter.

The awards were decided by the Rotary Community Service Committee and ratified by the Rotary Council.
