Middleton marathon runner breaks record
Date published: 18 April 2014
Paul Simons from Middleton has broken a world record by running the London Marathon dressed as an eight foot bottle of water.
Paul, who completed the marathon in three hours, 31 minutes claimed the record for the fastest ever marathon run by someone dressed as a bottle.
A postman in Oldham, Paul is no stranger to breaking world records. After running the marathon in 2009, he claimed the record for fastest marathon run by someone dressed as Father Christmas.
After completing his first marathon at aged 18, Paul went on to complete the Harrow marathon in 1995 in a time of two hours and 23 minutes.
Paul, now aged 50, completed the marathon in aid of Bliss and Action for Children, charities which help and support premature babies.
The record was previously held by Canadian Mark Wilding.
