St Michael’s Church in Middleton held their summer fair today (Saturday 21 June) to raise money for church funds.
Vicar Maureen Thorp said: “We hold fundraising events throughout the year for different charities but this event today is specifically for church funds.
“We are a large church so it will go towards buying things like candles, wine and wafers as well as general running of the church.”
The event included stalls such as cakes, jewellery, cards and sweets. There was also face-painting, guess the number of balloons in a car, hair braiding and a number of other games and activities.
Entertainment was provided by St Michael’s church band.
Organiser Lesley Beresford said: “It is all local people and families who have helped out today and come along.”
This was the first fair organised by Lesley. She added: “We have been really busy and we are really pleased with the turn out.”
Maureen added: ”I think at 2.00pm when we started we were afraid that no one would come but we have had a really good response and we are really pleased.”
