Middleton Township Committee meeting as it happened

A PACT report starts the meeting.

Issues regarding illegal parking and signage on lamp posts are addressed. A decision regarding how the PACT meetings will be conducted from now on will be discussed on Monday.

The open forum is next.

Issues regarding double yellow lines, shopmobility and traffic congestion have been discussed.

A presentation regarding Veterans in the Community is given next. The presentation discusses working with veterans to develop skills. The Veterans in the Community service currently helps 150 veterans in Heywood and Rochdale and would like to extend to Middleton.

A presentation is given from residents who are against the proposed housing development at Hollin Lane. The presentation informs residents in attendance and councillors about objections, why local residents are objecting and also informs people how to object to the plans.

A budget presentation is next. The presentation outlines the budget set by the council.

The claim of right of way from Grimshaw Lane to Roundthorn Road is next. The report is to seek agreement from councillors to continue with
the order.

Councillors approve the report.

Land at Tintern Road, Hollin, Middleton is discussed next. The report is asking for the land to be released for development.

Councillors approve the report.

WW1 commemoration plans are discussed next. The township has £20,000 to spend on commemorations until 2018.

Open space is discussed next.

The township has over £74,000 designated for open space improvements. A further £100,000 is due to come in to the township from developments.

Demand for extra school places is reported next. The proposal is for 60 extra school places with schools being consulted regarding the proposals.
