Springhill Resource Centre receives glowing report from the Care Quality Commission

Date published: 25 July 2014

Springhill Resource Centre in Broad Lane, which offers short-term respite care to help people regain their independence, has received an excellent report by the industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) having been deemed to have met all their exacting standards following an unannounced inspection earlier this month.

The service helps people regain their independence and confidence following an incident such as a fall or a hospital stay.

A number of different areas were looked at during the inspection, including whether people were getting safe and appropriate care, the quality of staff training and the surroundings.

Residents praised the home during the visit, telling inspectors: “It’s wonderful, the staff are very good." Another added: “I can’t fault the staff, they’ve got endless patience."

Inspectors also highlighted the fact that the residents had regular access to specialists including speech therapists, district nurses and physiotherapists, and were heavily involved in making decisions about their care.

The CQC was also impressed with the huge number of activities available at the centre and the fact that a robust procedure was in place for sharing information with other key agencies in emergencies.

The centre is run by Rochdale Council.
