Crime Prevention Advice

Recently Rochdale North officers have noticed an increase in burglaries where jewellery has been stolen, a large number of the jewellery being taken is Asian gold.

Please follow the below crime reduction advice and keep your valuables safe:

  • Ideally jewellery should be kept in a safety deposit box at the bank. If not, keep it in a concealable safe within your home.
  • Take photographs of all jewellery and other expensive items and keep an inventory for insurance purposes.
  • Ensure all doors and windows are locked even while you’re at home. One in three burglaries happen when doors and windows are left open or unlocked.
  • When going out at night, leave a light on or use light timer switches.
  • Ask a neighbour to keep an eye on your home while you’re away.
  • Register all your valuables for free with Immobilise at www.immobilise.com
