Family fun day raises money for Springhill Hospice and Rays of Sunshine
Date published: 17 August 2014
A family fun day, organised by Julie Dunkley, has raised money for Springhill Hospice and Rays of Sunshine.
Held yesterday (Saturday 16 August) at Littleborough Cricket Club, the event was organised after Julie was approached by local beauty pageant contestant Amy Gibson.
Julie said: “Amy is Beauty of Rochdale and she wanted to present a cheque to Rays of Sunshine at her next pageant so we decided to have this event for her to be able to do that. I also fund raise for Springhill Hospice so thought this fundraiser would be a good idea.”
The family fun day included appearances from the Oakenholt Cloggers and band, a magician and Princess Anna from Frozen.
There were also stalls selling jewellery, clothes and beauty products as well as a bouncy castle, raffles, games, face painting and crafts.
“I am really pleased, it has gone really well. We have been busy from the minute we started,” said Julie.
Amy Gibson, Miss Beauty of Rochdale, said: “I am really pleased with how today has gone. It is organised chaos but it is great.”
Julie added: “Hopefully we raise a few hundred pounds today but we would be pleased with anything and would love to raise as much as possible.”
