Feel Good Festival music line up 'best yet'
Date published: 31 August 2014
The line up for the main stage at this year's Feel Good Festival has been described as “the best line up yet” by organiser Debbie Hernon.
Speaking about the festival, Debbie said: “I have absolutely loved the festival this year. I am amazed that people have stayed in the rain for this long.
“This year's line up has been the best yet and it has definitely been the best received yet. I am just sad that it is coming to an end, as this is the last one I will be involved in.
“I hope it continues because the people of Rochdale really deserve this. You don’t get much for free any more and this feels like a safe and fun environment that the people of Rochdale can enjoy.”
Rochdale band 5ft Fez opened the main stage after winning the Feel Good Festival Battle of the Bands and were described as the “best opening act the festival has had” by those in attendance.
Ross Fearns from the band said: “It was brilliant to open the main stage. We loved it. It is nice to have support from the people of Rochdale and to see them coming out to support us was great.”
Manchester based disco-tinged house act MDNGHT followed 5ft Fez onto the main stage and lifted the spirits of those watching on in the rain.
Jordan from the band said: “It was a good performance. It is a shame it rained a bit but people still came out so that was nice.
“These types of festivals are great – especially when they are free - because they really bring the community together and are really good for towns.”
The Lottery Winners stepped in last minute to replace originally announced Fickle Friends and performed a number of tracks.
Singer Thom Rylance said: “We didn’t know what to expect when we got here but it has been really good. It’s all gone really well and has been really professional. We were pleased to be asked to come along and it is great to be sharing the stage with Scouting For Girls. They have had number one songs and that is what we strive for.”
Bird to Beast took the stage just before 7pm and kept the crowd singing and dancing.
The Selecter then took to the stage at 8pm and really got the crowd going. Their upbeat tracks and infectious on stage presence really stopped people thinking about the downpour.
Pauline Black from the Selecter spoke to Rochdale Online before the band's performance and said: “We have never played Rochdale before but we are definitely looking forward to it. We have had chance to look around the festival and think it is great. There was a lot going on and a lot of variety. We have an hour set so we will be playing a number of the hits
and a few new tracks.”
Scouting For Girls took to the stage and performed a number of their well-known songs from their Greatest Hits album.
