Thousands pack Town Hall Square as Scouting For Girls bring Feel Good Festival to a brilliant close

Date published: 31 August 2014

The Feel Good Festival was brought to a brilliant close yesterday (Saturday 30 August) as Scouting For Girls headlined the main stage.

The band took to the stage and played a set list of all of their well known hits including ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead’ and ‘Posh Girls’ to the biggest audience the Feel Good Festival has ever seen with every inch of tarmac packed with people.

Speaking to Rochdale Online before they performed on stage, the band praised community festivals like the Feel Good Festival.

Drummer Pete Ellard said: “I think these types of festivals offer a good community sprit and feel and they often turn out to be some of the better festivals we do.”

The band decided to perform at the Feel Good Festival after being approached by organisers and hearing positive reviews about the festival.

Lead singer Roy Stride said: “We were told that this was a really good festival to play and that it was a really good crowd so that drew us here.”

This was the first time they had played in Rochdale and the band members marvelled at the town hall.

“There are not many festivals that we go to where we get to have a 300-year-old building like this as a dressing room. It's great here,” said Roy.

Scouting For Girls released their Greatest Hits album last year and have been touring ever since.

Bass player Greg Churchouse said: “We have played a show every weekend for the last year I think. It's nice to play a mixture of shows and do these types of festivals as well as the bigger festivals and this is the last festival we are playing this year.”

The band is planning on releasing new music next year with work on a new album due soon.

Roy said: “I think it is going to be a more live, acoustic and raw sounding album. We like to really work on the songs and put something out that we love and we have lots of songs already.”
