Action for Pakistan International raises £1,200 for Mayor's charity

The Management Committee of Action for Pakistan presented a cheque for £1,200 to the Mayor's charity.

The funds were raised on Pakistan Independence Day (14 August,2014) at the Mayor's Charity Lunch in the Town Hall and the flag raising in which Senator and leading Advocate of the Supreme Court in Pakistan, Dr Babar Awan, MP Jim Dobbins, Leader of the Council, Richard Farnell, councillors and members of the community attended.

Mayor Carol Wardle thanked the Action for Pakistan International and the Pakistani community in Rochdale for raising the money. She said; "We appreciate and value the contribution of the Pakistani community in the borough."

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, of Action for Pakistan, said that the Pakistani community has contributed in all aspects of life in Rochdale and raised funds for the Springhill Hospice in the past also as they are providing an excellent service to the community. He added that Rochdale and UK are our and our future generations' home and we should do our best for its prosperity and development. He said that the Pakistani community will continue to play their important role in Rochdale and the UK.

He thanked everyone for their continued support.
