A minute’s silence in honour of MP Jim Dobbin is held.

The open forum starts the meeting with issues regarding speeding, parking and street lighting being addressed.

A presentation regarding Big Life is given next.

The presentation informs councillors of the service offered throughout the borough of Rochdale.

A presentation regarding wind turbines in Hopwood is next.

Rochdale Council would like to erect two turbines on land near Hopwood Hall College in a way of helping residents to benefit from renewable energy as well as creating income for the town.

The council hope to submit a planning application in October.

A review of polling stations is next.

This is a statutory review undertaken by the council.

The Savings Programme is next and discusses plans proposed by Rochdale council to help generate savings over the coming years. The council need to save £51 million with consultation regarding the proposals underway until 29 October.

The Capital programme is next.

The report takes into consideration the priorities of the council and resources available to the council.

The Council Tax Support Scheme is next.

The report to councillors is part of the on-going consultation being undertaken regarding the scheme. The consultation is under way until 24 October.

Changes to the process for Local Authority (LA) governor appointments is next.

Councillors are asked to note that from 1 September 2015, all LA governor appointments will be made by governing bodies with
nominations only from the LA.
