Springhill Hospice shop in Heywood celebrates first birthday

Date published: 14 September 2014

Springhill Hospice is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and the Springhill Hospice shop in Heywood has celebrated its first birthday.

Shop Manager Derek Waddell and his team of volunteers opened the doors of the shop to the public so they could join in with the celebrations and offered balloons, bubbly, nibbles and birthday cake to all.

Springhill Hospice Income Services Manager Sarah Ford said: "Since opening the shop last year the staff and volunteers have worked tirelessly to create a real community hub, so not only do people come for the fantastic clothes, books, shoes, and home wares but they also come to find out what's going on in the local area.

"We're so proud of the shop and it's doing so well we're now opening on a Sunday - due to popular demand."

If you would like to get involved with volunteering at the hospice charity shops, just pop in and ask or call fundraising on 01706 641790 or if you have anything you would like to donate, just drop by.
