Body found in Whitworth confirmed as Heath Nield
Date published: 26 September 2014
Police are satisfied that a body found in Whitworth last weekend is that of missing Rossendale man Heath Nield.
The body was found on land behind Healey Conservative Club, Whitworth just before 2.45pm on Sunday 21 September and tests have now shown that the body is that of Mr Nield, 31, who went missing from his home on Rochdale Road, Bacup in July.
Police have confirmed that there was no third party involvement in the death and that the matter has been passed to HM Coroner.
An inquest has been opened and has been adjourned until Tuesday 9 December.
Inspector Paul Leigh, of Rossendale Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with Heath’s family at this sad time; his father Peter Nield, mother Christine Mitton, brother and sister John and Lauren and his four children.
“I would like to thank everyone who assisted with the search for Heath during the weeks he was missing and the local community for their support and co-operation.”
