Thirteen people took part in the ice bucket challenge for Springhill Hospice on Thursday (25 September) at the Sandbrook Crown Carvery.

Pupils from Redwood Secondary School took part in a car cleaning event on Friday (26 September) in the car park of the fundraising offices of the Hospice. Pupils were cleaning cars from 10am.

Liam Buckley and Emma Cochrane have raised nearly £2,000 for the Hospice after climbing Mount Kinabalu.

The Hospice Santa Fun Run has been rebranded and will now be called the ‘Santa Dash or Dawdle’ and will take place on Sunday 14 December. The event is a sponsored 5k run, walk, dog walk or pram push around Hollingworth Lake.

Adults can register for the event for £12 including the suit (£9 without the suit) and children under 12 can register for £9 with the suit (£6 without the suit). To register, contact the hospice on 01706 641790.

The Lights of Love service dates have been confirmed and services will take place on Thursday 4 December at 7pm at Rochdale Parish Church, Sunday 7 December at 3pm and 6pm at the Hospice and Thursday 11 December at 4.30pm and 7pm at the Hospice.

Nominations for the Man of Rochdale will be open from next week.

The man of Rochdale is an award presented to a man who is considered to have made the most significant contribution to the Rochdale Community.

Dates for the Diary

Saturday 4 October – 25th Anniversary Ball – The Hospice are celebrating 25 years this year and are holding an anniversary ball to commemorate the special occasion. The event will take place in the magnificent setting of the Great Hall in Rochdale Town Hall.

Sunday 16 November – Christmas Fair – The annual Springhill Hospice Christmas fair will take place on Sunday 16 November between 10am and 3pm. The event will include a Santa’s grotto, games, raffles and stalls. The event is free with donations welcome.
