Freehold musical Eid event

A musical eid event on Saturday 18 October saw over 250 people from Rochdale, Bury, Oldham and Manchester get together at Castlemere Banqueting Hall.

The evening’s event included talks from Councillor Mohammed Zaman and Master of Ceremony Dr A Karim Shakoor.

Saagar Melody Group, from Bolton, played music from Lollywood (Pakistan) and lead singer Asia Suman was joined on stage by Hussnain Lahori who performed two Bollywood songs.

Local poets and Mohammed Azhar took to the stage to perform popular songs as well as taking part in a joint performance with Asia Suman and Saagar Melodies.

Stalls included cupcakes, henna, perfume and make up, face painting, a chocolate fountain, snow cones, toys and candy floss.

Local councilors at the event were Councillor Zaman, Councillor Surinder Biant and Councillor Cecile Biant and Councillor Sultan Ali.

The event was organised by Freehold Community Group in partnership with Freehold Tenants and Residents Association.

Mohammad Azhar said: “I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the committee members of the group, staff members, volunteers and thank the community for their continued support of Freehold Community Group.”

The group also acknowledged The Big Lottery for supporting and providing funding for the event and to RBH for giving them permission to use 272 Olney, Freehold as a community base for the group.
