Rochdale Township in Bloom wins RHS Silver Gilt Award

Date published: 19 November 2014

Rochdale Township in Bloom has received a silver gilt award, and was just three points off a gold.

Committee Chairman Nigel Morrell said "Although it's hard to find that we were so close to getting the gold, it is an incredible achievement to have come so close."

Special recognition was given to the WW1 memorial planting at Broadfield Park. This display featured on the cover of this year's portfolio, and the judges agreed it was an exceptional display and particularly noteworthy.

Individual awards and recognition were also given to Zen internet, St. Edwards School in Castleton, Springhill Hospice and Cutgate Bowling Club, among others.

The Community group behind Rochdale Township’s annual entry into the RHS competition work throughout the year, with only modest funds to make dozens of projects happen all across the township. From schools to businesses, social groups, friends and residents, like-minded people play their part in making Rochdale a more beautiful place to live and work.
