Simon Danczuk calls for support for local traders

Rochdale’s MP Simon Danczuk is calling on shoppers to give their backing for the UK’s second annual Small Business Saturday by showing their support for local traders.

The event, which takes place on Saturday 6 December, is a national celebration of the UK’s five million small businesses. It was launched in the UK last year by the shadow business secretary, Chuka Umunna.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to discover the Borough’s best small businesses,” said Simon Danczuk. “All over Rochdale there are countless hidden gems. These are hardworking great businesses, offering quality goods and great service – and they’re the lifeblood of local communities.

“They’re vital to our communities and I want to try and use the Borough’s spending power to help local businesses. The more money we keep in our local economy, the more Rochdale will be able to grow and prosper.”

You can of course still enjoy the convenience of online shopping and support local independent businesses by buying from the collective of 50 local independents selling their goods via the Rochdale Online Department Store:
