Residential housing development bid made for Heywood

Date published: 15 December 2014

Countryside Properties is seeking permission from Rochdale Council to build a £4.3m residential housing development in Heywood.

The development plans are yet to be approved by the council but, if the plans get the go ahead, would consist of 43 two storey houses on land off of Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street and George Street.

Countryside Properties has put the application in to Rochdale Council for 13 two bed houses and 30 three bed houses, mostly semi-detached with some terraced and detached houses.

Ian Simpson, Land Director at Countryside Properties commented: “Countryside’s planning application for 43 new homes off Cherwell Avenue in Heywood will see us continue our presence in the area to deliver a range of high
quality homes, building on the success of our popular Copper Wells development on Argyle Street.

“If successful, the scheme is set to include a variety of two and three-bedroom detached, semi-detached and muse properties. We hope to begin work on the scheme in April next year and intend to spend the coming months engaging the local community in our plans for the development.”

It is understood that the development would provide much-needed family housing of a high quality, which will improve the environment by redeveloping a vacant brown field site.
