University professor visits Sixth Form College

Date published: 21 December 2014

A Level students from Rochdale Sixth Form College recently had an invaluable geography lesson.

Dr John Boyle from the University of Liverpool, talked to the students about plate margins. Having spent time in California carrying out field work and studying the subject of plate margins with his undergraduate students, Dr Boyle was able to share his wealth of knowledge with the next generation of geographers.

Graeme Dymond, teacher of geography at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “The talk provided great extra detail for students to complement their existing case study research and really brought the subject to life. The students all thoroughly enjoyed his visit and we do hope he will visit us again in the future.”

Student Cerys Hanes said: “I found the presentation really interesting, particularly useful to me as I’ve actually applied to Liverpool University to study geography.”
