Littleborough Christmas lights switch on 2014
A group of residents from Littleborough are hoping to raise money to improve the village’s Christmas lights.
The group want to raise funds to put lighting along the buildings on Hare Hill Road, Church Street and Victoria Street and have had an estimate of £1,500 for the work.
To raise the money, the group are looking to hold a raffle and hope to sell at least 3,000 tickets.
It is understood that the lights would have to be ordered in September to ensure that they are ready for Christmas.
Liz White, who is one of the people behind the idea, said: “We see this as a community event making Littleborough a more exciting place next Christmas. The Christmas lights switch on could be quite spectacular.”
Steve Lister, Chairman of LEAF (Littleborough Events and Association Forum), added: “This is very encouraging. LEAF was originally intended to coordinate the various groups in the area and will support this idea.”
