Shuttles fly for Hospice

A charity badminton tournament in aid of Springhill Hospice, organised and hosted by BME Health Matters, raised over £500.

Thirty nine teams participated from across Yorkshire and Lancashire.

In the category A, Sheffield where winners and Oldham came runners up.

The category B winners where Oldham and runners up Leeds.

Organiser Khalid Bashir said: “It was a fantastic event and thrilled to see so many teams from different towns participating for a good cause.

“In total £500 was raised for the Hospice we are proud to have raised the money because they do a fantastic job of caring for people from all communities.

“On the day over 300 people came to support the event we will hopefully be doing a similar event in Easter for another charity.

“I would like to send my thanks’ to the huge amount of volunteers who helped in organising the event, a special appreciation to Andy from Mathew Moss School who gave a lot of time and effort.

"We would like to thank our sponsors who have made this possible: BME Health Matters, Mathew Moss High School, Asian Leader, Indus Print, High Standard Ltd, Harry’s, Drive UK and Ace Union.”

Lillie Winterbottom from the fundraising team of Springhill Hospice said: “We are grateful to BME Health Matters for organising the event and also for raising the awareness amongst the South Asian community about Springhill Hospice, we are working together with the group to invite the volunteers and members to visit the Hospice. Well done to all.”
