Michael Armitage shortlisted for finance award

Date published: 01 February 2015

Michael Armitage has been shortlisted for a national accolade in recognition of his excellent work.

Having joined RBH on a 12-month Finance Officer traineeship in 2009, Mr Armitage, 23, from Heywood, has progressed rapidly to his present position of assistant tax and treasury accountant and his contribution has now earned him a nomination in the Best Newcomer category at the Housing Association National Accountancy Awards in March.

Jo Reed, RBH Deputy Head of Finance, said: “Michael’s achievements at RBH have been remarkable. He has been here at a time of great change but, rather than being intimidated by this, he has been inspired and, in turn, has inspired others to see each challenge as an opportunity.

“Each time he has been presented with something new he has quickly got to grips with it and this extremely positive attitude, together with his commitment to his own learning and development, have seen him become a huge asset to RBH.”

Mr Armitage, who will learn if he has won the award at a special ceremony at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on 17 March, said: “I’m thrilled to have been shortlisted for this honour and want to thank everyone at RBH who has helped me develop my career.

“The great thing about working here is that you are encouraged to add to your skills and knowledge at every opportunity which allows you to then make a greater contribution in your role.

“Ultimately this benefits our customers which, as a mutual society, is what all our activities are directed towards.”
