Emma-Leigh loses her locks for The Little Princess Trust
Date published: 01 February 2015
A Littleborough student has had almost 12 inches of her hair cut off to donate to The Little Princess Trust in memory of her grandad.
Emma-Leigh Quinn, who is studying English Language at Huddersfield University, lost her Grandad to cancer a year ago and she wanted to do something worthwhile to honour him.
The Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Pop star Jessie J famously donated her own hair to the Trust after having it shaved off live on Comic Relief in 2013.
Emma-Leigh said "My grandad loved children and he always said that as long as the babies were happy, he was happy. I am hoping to make a little girl or boy somewhere happy and confident despite what they are going through."
"I saw how ill the chemotherapy made my grandad. He had very little hair anyway but he lost what he had left."
"I know how much I love my hair and I cannot imagine what it must do to a child's confidence when they lose their hair as well as being so ill and having to have such awful treatment."
"This is going to be a challenge for me as I have been growing my hair for a number of years. I love my hair long and I do not like having short hair, but if I can make a child happy and more confident then it will be well worth it."
