Police News – Rochdale East

Inspector Niall Hayden-Pawson says: "Our priorities remain this week tackling Burglaries and working closely with victims of Domestic Abuse offering reassurance and assistance ensuing victims get the best possible help and support.

"After a lot of investigation this week by local officers and help from the public, we would like to say a big thank you to the public as items stolen in a burglary in Castleton have now been reunited with their owner.

Burglaries

We have made two good arrests this week for burglaries.

  • Officers attended a ‘thieves on’ on Dobbin Drive, Kirkholt due to the quick response officers found the offenders still inside the address attempting to steal items. Both offenders were arrested at the scene and since been charged. 
  • We currently have another two offenders in custody on suspicion of burglary. 
Assaults

This week we have arrested five offenders this week these have occurred in various locations in the East area. Two offenders have been no further action and these were domestic related.

Vehicle crime

It has been a very busy week this week for vehicle crime we have seen a rise to 22, these are five theft of a vehicle and a staggering 17 theft from a vehicle.

Burglary dwelling

For the week on Rochdale East we have had 11: 

Littlebrough x 1
Milnrow & Newhey x 2
Wardle & West Littleborough x 2
Balderstone & Kirkholt x 2

Kingsway x 3

Burglary of note

This is a high value burglary in the Milnrow area.

The offender gained access into the victim's rear garden, then shattered a pane in the patio door. 

Distraction burglary of note

Milnrow and Newhey – Cornfield Street.

The offender rang the doorbell and asked the victim ‘how are you?’ and told them he is the son of a neighbour. The offender then walked into the property without any invitation and continued chatting to the victim and asked her for a cup of tea. The victim went into the kitchen leaving the offender alone and the offender stole a handbag and a wallet.
