Rising bollard on Pilsworth Road to be reviewed

Date published: 03 March 2015

Councillor Jacqui Beswick has stated that a review into the rising bollard on Pilsworth Road, Heywood is to be undertaken.

During the meeting of Heywood Township Committee on Monday (2 March), when asked if anything was to be done about the bollard, Councillor Beswick stated that she has already started a review process into the issue.

Councillor Beswick said: “That bollard was put in at a request of the residents in that area and it took us about 10 years to get it in and yes there have been several accidents, probably too many to count and that is a problem because when the road is closed, you can’t access the industrial park.

“I am setting up a review and will look at reviewing the bollard and residents will be contacted. Residents need to be consulted on this because they are the ones living there and it is an issue for them because they can’t sleep with the noise. I have already set something up and this will go out to consultation.”

Pilsworth Road was closed on Monday 23 February for five days after a HGV lorry collided with the bollard, causing a fuel spillage, leaving the road needing to be resurfaced.
