Top rating for Rochdale Council website

Date published: 03 March 2015

The Rochdale Council website has been recognised as one of the best council websites in the country for the third year running.

The website has been awarded four stars by the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitim), which promotes the effective and efficient use of Information Technology in Local Government and the Public Sector, in their ‘Better Connected 2015’ report published this week.

Socitim ‘recommends’ the site and said it ‘meets all relevant criteria in relations to usability and navigation of top tasks.’ They also say the site ‘really feels like it is prioritising content according to what people are looking for’ and praised the performance of the website's search function, navigation and use of email alerts.

Council Leader Richard Farnell said: “This is brilliant news for the residents, businesses and visitors to the council’s website. We’re passionate about making our website work. Being named again as one of the top rated council websites in the country boosts our commitment to put customers at the centre of everything we deliver.”

Rochdale is the only authority in Greater Manchester to achieve four stars and one of only 34 authorities to reach the top standard of the 407 in the UK.
