Pennines Township Committee meeting as it happened

Date published: 04 March 2015

Tuesday 3 March

Councillor Allen Brett praises Councillor John Blundell for being nominated in the Councillor Achievement awards in the Young Councillor of the year category.

The police give an update.

They are currently targeting a number of areas including Anti Social Behaviour, problems on the Metrolink and drugs.

The Open Forum is next.

Issues regarding parking on private land and properties at Hollingworth Lake are addressed.

A presentation regarding the Town Centre East development is next.

Following the consultation with members of the public, plans for the development have received praise. It is hoped that work on the development would begin in mid 2016.

Non-regulated car parks are discussed next.

The report is to seek approval for the recommended course of action relating to the future of non-regulated car parks managed by the township.

Councillors agree to not dispose of any of the car parks and to look at a car park on Edmund Street, Milnrow for development.

Royal Street, Rochdale is next.

The report is to advise councillors of objections received to a proposed introduction of ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions on parts of Royal Street and Spring Mill Walk in Smallbridge and Firgrove. Three objections were received all together and one was received after the closing date.

The main objections were that a total ban was unnecessary and that there would be nowhere else to park. The Highways Department has deemed these reasons not valid to stop the proposals.

Councillors agree the report.

Meeting ended.
