Simon Danczuk courts controversy with scathing criticism of Ed Miliband

Date published: 23 March 2015

Never far from controversy, Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has hit the national news headlines again following an interview with the New Statesman in which Mr Danczuk criticises his Labour party leader, Ed Miliband.

No fan of Mr Miliband's leadership, Mr Danczuk says Labour has been “hijacked” by a north London liberal elite and the public thinks Ed Miliband is more of a “toff” than David Cameron.

This scathing criticism just 45 days before the general election has not gone down well with the Labour party, either nationally or locally.

Labour activists took to social media to denounce Mr Danczuk and vent their anger at how much more difficult they believe Mr Danczuk has made it on the doorsteps in the forthcoming election campaign.

Local Labour party sources said today that Mr Danczuk, along with his highly controversial wife, Karen, is "out of control" and that Mr Danczuk's views on Ed Miliband were "unhelpful".

Rochdale Online spoke to a number of people in Rochdale town centre today to ask their views and almost to a one they were scathing in their criticism of all politicans and not interested in Mr Danczuk's views one way or the other.

Mr Danczuk has today insisted that he wants Mr Miliband to be the next Prime Minister and in a series of posts on social media said the interview was conducted when he had been "feeling emotional" after a tough day.
