Michael Talmage and Christopher Walker jailed for false imprisonment - Rochdale

Date published: 26 March 2015

Michael Talmage and Christopher Walker have been jailed for false imprisonment.

Talmage (22/05/1991) of Cleves Court, Heywood pleaded guilty of two counts of false imprisonment and sentenced to six years five months in prison.

Walker (21/02/1982) of Garden Court, Rochdale pleaded guilty of false imprisonment and sentenced to 32 months.

Both were sentenced yesterday, Tuesday 24 March 2015, at Minshull Street Crown Court

In the early hours of 26 January 2014, a 20-year-old man was at a house on Garden Court, Belfield with Talmage, Walker and a group of people.

The victim later went into a bedroom and tried to go to sleep but was threatened by Walker. He then walked into living room to discover his phone charger had been smashed. There was a disagreement before the victim was assaulted.

In a separate incident on 18 September 2014, Talmage met an 18-year-old man at his home at Mardyke, Rochdale for a drink. Later, he became aggressive towards the victim, making accusations and tied his hands behind his back.

He grabbed a knife and threatened the teenager with it, stabbing and cutting into the sofa he was sat on. The ordeal lasted until the next morning at which time Talmage left, stealing electrical equipment.

Detective Constable Russ Clarke said: "When under the influence of drink and drugs, Michael Talmage clearly felt that he could behave and treat people however he wished, without any comeback.

“He beat, humiliated and threatened his victims but has learnt there are very real consequences to his actions.

"The sentence imposed should also send out a clear message to anybody else who is thinking of indulging in violence to exploit vulnerable members of society. The police will do everything they can to bring you to justice and protect the public.

"Both victims in this case have shown real courage and I hope the sentences imposed will bring them comfort and a sense of closure.”
