Anya Ferguson raises over £500 for Springhill Hospice

Date published: 30 March 2015

Anya Ferguson, aged 9, from Rochdale, has raised £525.60 for Springhill Hospice after turning her hobby of figure skating into a fabulous fundraising effort.

Anya asked her friends and family to sponsor her to skate 100 laps of Altrincham ice skating rink nonstop.

With her mum Clare, dad, David and grandma, Kath on hand to cheer her on, Anya, with baby Springy in tow to turn the lap counter, twizzled her way to completing the challenge.

Anya was inspired following the care that the Hospice showed to her grandad, Colin, late last year.

After completing the challenge, Anya was presented with a gift for all of her hard work from Springy the Hospice frog.

Springhill Hospice Community Fundraiser, Lillie Winterbottom said: “Anya is a fantastic young lady and a real joy. She was a little shell shocked when Springy made a surprise visit to congratulate her at her school in Royton. It was lovely to see such a great beaming smile on her face. If Anya puts half as much effort into her school work as she does fundraising, she has a very bright future. A huge thank you from us all of here at Springhill Hospice.
