Rabbit found impaled on railings and set on fire
Date published: 05 April 2015
A rabbit was impaled on railings and then set on fire on Belfield Lane, off Milnrow Road, on Saturday (4 April) night.
The rabbit was found dead by distraught members of public who contacted the RSPCA.
The photos provided by the RSPCA are too distressing to publish.
Inspector Charlotte Booker of the RSPCA said: "The rabbit was dead on my arrival, it's fur was clearly burnt and mouth appeared to have been set on fire too. Somebody had clearly gone to great lengths to do this.
"The rabbit is pure white and looks to be a lion head type breed. It had no microchip and was otherwise in good bodily condition."
The location by the railway bridge is very visible, next to traffic lights, and the RSPCA is appealing for anybody with information regarding this dreadful act, or anybody that recognises the rabbit, to come forward and contact Inspector Booker on 0300 1234 999 (this can be done anonymously).
