Heritage Green group up and running

Date published: 22 April 2015

A packed meeting at Norden Library saw a new group established. Residents voted unanimously to agree a constitution for the group, allowing it to apply for funds and continue its campaign to save the Heritage Green open space on Caldershaw Road for future generations.

April’s meeting focused on a planned application for village green status, raising of funds and possible improvements to the land.

Chairman of the Group, Mark Thompson, said: ‘It’s good to see so many people committed to their local environment, and prepared to give up their time to improve it for the good of all.”

The group has already had an action day to tidy tree planting on Shearing Avenue - damaged in 2014.

The Group will remain free to join to any interested local resident, and the next meeting is at 2.00pm on Saturday 23 May at the Old Norden Library, Edenfield Road, Norden.
