Shaunni King, from Queensway, is hoping to be crowned Miss Manchester on Thursday 7 May, after reaching the final of the competition.

Shaunni, who works in a local gym, entered the competition after being encouraged by one of her friends.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, she said: “I work in a gym and my friend saw some information about it and said that I should get involved. I then decided to have a look at the website and I just filled my details in from there.”

Shaunni made the final after receiving enough votes from members of the public.

“I used to do modelling when I was younger but this will be the first beauty pageant I have been involved in. I am looking forward to it and think it will be really good,” said Shaunni.

During the final, Shaunni will have to compete in three rounds:

  • LA daytime wear from the 1920s to present
  • Hollywood glamour
  • Gym wear

Shaunni added: “There isn’t really one particular round that I am looking forward to the most, I am looking forward to it all.”

Shaunni hopes that by entering the competition, it will give her more exposure and help her enter the world of fitness modelling.

She added: “There are lots of celebrities that go to the event as well so it is a really good chance to meet agencies and get agency work. I am currently a personal trainer but would love to get into something like fitness modelling.”

Despite this being her first beauty pageant, Shaunni is confident she will be crowned Miss Manchester.

“I think you have to be confident with these things, there is no point in doing it if you’re not confident,” said Shaunni.

The final of Miss Manchester 2015 will take place on Thursday 7 May at The Palace Hotel.
