Ball-bearing gun fired at takeaways in Middleton

Date published: 26 April 2015

Two takeaways on Grimshaw Lane in Middleton were damaged by a ball-bearing (BB) gun discharge on Saturday (25 April) night.

On arrival, police officers were told that another takeaway had been damaged on Hollinwood Avenue.

Shortly after 11.10pm the same evening police received a report of another discharge on Woodstock Road in Moston. Officers attended and found that a house had been damaged by a BB gun.

No one was injured and police are linking all four incidents.

No description of the offender is available but the car is described as dark-coloured.

No arrests have been made at this stage and inquiries are ongoing.

Inspector Nick Hill of Rochdale division said: “Understandably the local community will be alarmed there have been four incidents in a matter of hours. We do believe that it was a ball-bearing gun that was used but I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to find out who is responsible and have stepped up police patrols in the area.

“I would ask anyone who has concerns to speak to their local police officer and urge those with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
