Fida Hussain bids for Rochdale Diversity Award

Date published: 18 May 2015

RBH Community Partnership employee Fida Hussain has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Achievement category at this year’s Rochdale Diversity Awards.

Fida’s nomination comes after more than a decade of voluntary work to enable young people from around the borough to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award which supports youngsters as they boost their self-confidence and gain new skills.

In addition to his voluntary work he now runs a Duke of Edinburgh scheme for RBH which gives participants the chance to directly link activities to helping their neighbourhoods.

Last year saw Fida named Mountain Leader of the Year for England and Wales by the Mountain Training Association and this latest honour again recognises his tireless efforts to support young people in their personal development.

Fida said: “I’m very proud to live in the borough and have got great satisfaction from the voluntary work I have carried out over the years.

“Being shortlisted for this honour is wonderful and I would like to thank all the young people whose commitment and determination have made the Duke of Edinburgh schemes so successful.

“In addition to the volunteering I do in my own time RBH support all employees in carrying out voluntary work in the community which is a great example of how our mutual values can be put into practice.”

The Rochdale Diversity Awards take place at Rochdale Town Hall on Thursday 28 May.
