Students at Hopwood Hall College have raised over £135 for the charity, Children with Cancer UK, by completing a sponsored walk around Hollingworth Lake in Rochdale.
The students, who are all studying health and social care at the college decided to organise a sponsored walk when they were learning about working in a team as part of their studies.
Having agreed that it was the perfect opportunity to combine their college work with raising money for a good cause, the group chose Children with Cancer UK as their nominated charity and soon set about preparing for the walk.
Although it was a cold day when the students reached Hollingworth Lake, which spans nearly 120 acres, everyone quickly warmed up as they started the walk – and the sun even made an appearance half way through.
Vicky Cother, centre for health and childhood studies lecturer at the college, said: “I am so proud of the students. They did a fantastic job organising the event and were really determined to raise as much money as possible for the charity. I’d like to say a huge well done to them all.”
