Date published: 29 May 2015

Rochdale Sixth Form College recently welcomed Manchester School of Medicine to talk to students about studying medicine at the University of Manchester.

Admission Manager, Linda Harding, provided a detailed overview of the medical school, talking about the entry requirements and application process, clarifying for students exactly what they need to achieve, preferable work experience and extra-curricular activities.

Brett Wicks, Employability and Progression Coordinator from Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “These talks are invaluable in clearly explaining to and informing potential medical students of what they need to achieve in terms of exam grades and what needs to be done to satisfy the extra requirements in terms of work experience and wider studies.”

A Level student Freya Ashworth said: “I’m interested in pursuing a career in medicine; the talk was insightful and provided me with invaluable and extremely helpful guidance.”

A Level student Haider Rashid, who also attended the talk, added: “I now have a greater understanding of the application process and will feel more confident when applying to study at university.”
