Police appeal for witnesses after three men flee the scene of a collision in Rochdale

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious injury, fail-to-stop collision in Rochdale.

Around 5.15am on Saturday 4 July 2015, a Vauxhall Vectra turned right out of Spotland Road and was in collision with a Renault Clio travelling south along St Mary’s Gate.

A 23-year-old man, who was in the Clio at the time of the collision, suffered multiple injuries and continues to receive treatment in hospital.

The 26-year-old driver of the Vectra suffered whiplash.

Three other occupants of the Clio fled the scene.

Sergeant Paul Higgins, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “A young man has suffered very serious injuries as a result of this collision, and his three friends appear to have left him behind to deal with the consequences".

“We would very much like to identify the three men who ran from the scene following the collision, so if you believe you saw something or are able to assist the investigation please contact police.”
