War Memorial being considered for addition to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest

Date published: 25 July 2015

Historic England is considering the Buersil and Balderstone War Memorial for addition to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest (‘The List’), as part of its response to the centenary of the First World War.

Renovation work has just been completed on the memorial and the lettering re-done and the gates have been cleaned up.

War memorials are among the most tangible and precious reminders of the sacrifices made by communities during the First World War, and the government is committed to seeing all the nation’s memorials placed in a good state of repair by 2018.
