Leanne McQue skydiving to raise money for boy with leukaemia to go to Disneyland

Date published: 25 July 2015

Leanne McQue is set to do a tandem skydive in October to raise money to send a young boy with leukaemia to Disneyland.

Leanne, who has raised money for the family before, is trying to raise as much money as possible to send the boy and his family on a dream holiday.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, Leanne said: “I have decided to do the skydive because it is something that absolutely terrifies me and would be a huge achievement for myself, as it is enables me to step out of my comfort zone. I have never done anything like this before and every time I think about it I get butterflies in my tummy.”

The young boy is the son of a close friend of Leanne. He was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of four, which meant his mum had to give up work so that she could be with him in the hospital day and night.

Leanne has previously raised money for the family and raised £1,834 through a family fun day.

Towards the end of last year, the family found out that chemotherapy used to help the boy had been a success but sadly, a few months ago, the disease came back and now he is fighting for his life and has recently undergone a bone marrow transplant.

Leanne said: “I know they have always dreamed of having a family trip to Disneyland Florida and I for one would love to make that dream come true.”

Leanne now hopes to raise at least £1,000 to help make that dream a reality.

She added: “My original target was £2,000 but from the response I have had, I lowered the target to £1,000. However, my goal is to be able to send them to Disneyland Florida, which I think could easily cost £5,000, and that is a huge expectation, but something I would be so proud of if I achieved it.”
