Police have arrested two men on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found in Rochdale.

At around 9.50pm on Wednesday 28 July 2015, police were called to reports of a disturbance on Shawclough Way in Rochdale.

Numerous reports were received of a man with a gun and further reports were received of shots having been fired.

Armed officers deployed to the location discovered a 35-year-old woman with stab wound injuries. First aid was administered by officers and paramedics and the woman was taken to hospital.

She sadly died later from her injuries.

Two men, aged 45 and 35 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Officers remain at the scene and will also be available to speak to any members of the public who have any concerns or information that they wish to pass on.

Superintendent Alistair Mallen said: “Our sympathies are with the family of the victim and we are currently working to find them so we can inform them of this tragic news.

“We initially received numerous calls a man was seen holding a firearm and shots had been discharged. When specialist firearms officers gained access to the house, it was established the weapon was a BB gun.

“Understandably, residents will be shocked and upset by what has happened and although we believe this is an isolated, we have increased patrols in the area to offer reassurance.

“Two men have been arrested but I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police.”
