Freehold Street Festival Mela

Date published: 29 July 2015

Visitors enjoyed the 41st annual Freehold Street Festival Mela despite the wet weather on Sunday (26 July).

The event had workshops for children and adults, funfair rides, food stalls, toys, face painting, (Hina) mehdhi on palms of hands and performances included, Spud on the saxophone, the Dholl from Bashir and Qawali from Saleem Sabri group.

The cake cutting was by Haji Sajjad Shah and ex-Mayor Angela Coric.

Mohammed Salim said: “Overall it was a most memorable, enjoyable day for the community that embraced diversity with cohesion. The smiling faces tell the story of the success of the event.

“A big thank you to all who made it possible."
