Police warning following spate of burglaries
Police officers have issued a warning following a spate of burglaries in the Milkstone and Deeplish area. On the night of Monday 27 July, six burglaries occurred overnight in the area. Three were committed in dwellings and three at local businesses.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Police said: “Whilst we are working tirelessly to apprehend and bring those responsible to justice, we urge you to check your property for any known weaknesses and items outside your home that could be used to elevate or smash your windows and doors.
“If you do have CCTV please check yours for overnight as soon as you get home as you may have unwittingly caught an offender on camera.
“Please try your best to make your home secure and ensure you don’t leave keys/handbags etc. where they could be snagged by hooks and canes. Take these valuables upstairs each night.
“At a time like this it does pay to be vigilant. You can tell if someone or something doesn’t look right and doesn’t belong in your street and if you’re sure please let us know by dialling 101. If you think a crime is actually taking place please dial 999 immediately.”
