Rochdale Online Sales Executive Liz Munday to take part in the Feel Good Festival Town Hall abseil

Date published: 21 August 2015

Rochdale Online Sales Executive Liz Munday has signed herself up to take part in this year’s Feel Good Festival Town Hall abseil.

Liz, who signed up to take the 190ft plunge after wanting to complete something like this for a while, said: “As soon as I read about the abseil I knew straightaway that I should put myself forward. I’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time and with the donations going to such a good cause, it seemed silly not to put my name down. I’m really glad I got picked and can’t wait to do it.”

Liz has never undertaken anything like this before, but is looking forward to the challenge.

She added: “I’ve never done anything like this before but have always fancied doing a sky-drive or a parachute jump, so this doesn’t really faze me – at least not until I get up there.

“I am feeling really excited, I actually can’t wait. I’m just hoping it’s not too windy or raining on the day. I’ve got my fingers crossed, hoping everything goes to plan and that we have nice weather.”

The abseil will take place on Saturday 5 September during this year’s Feel Good Festival, between 8am and 2:30pm and will see Liz, and others, taking part to raise money for foodbanks in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton.

Liz added: “I think that raising money for the foodbanks in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton is fantastic. People get into difficulty for all sorts of reasons and I think we should not disregard these people and do all that we can to help them, otherwise how are people ever supposed to get back on their feet?

“So much food is wasted by supermarkets every day across the UK and donating food that would normally go unused is paramount. Not only does it help a family/person in need, but it also stops our landfills being overloaded by even more waste. I couldn’t be happier that my donations are going directly to helping people across our borough.”

Liz is hoping to raise as much money as possible for the local foodbanks.

“I have a target of £500 but I’d be happy with anything over £100 really. Every penny helps these charities, so please donate all that you can, even if it’s just £1,” said Liz.
