Gwen Raby hoping for a place in Miss Lancashire 2015 final

Date published: 02 September 2015

Gwen Raby, 16, from Rochdale, is hoping to secure a place in this year’s Miss Lancashire final.

Gwen entered the competition last year but didn’t get a place and is hoping that this year will be her year.

Speaking to Rochdale Online she said: “I am hoping to get a place this year and it would be nice to win for the charity because of all of the work I have done.”

Gwen is currently raising money for Variety, the children’s charity and is hoping to raise £1,000.

Gwen added: “I have set a target of £200 but would like to get to at least £1,000.”

To raise money for the charity, Gwen has recently sold some clothes and has organised a sponsored litter pick at Greenbooth.

Variety is a charity that helps to provide practical help and memorable childhood experience to help less fortunate children reach their potential.

Gwen is now looking for the support of her home town to ensure that she makes the final of the competition.

“I am currently second place in the ‘popularity’ aspect of the pageant but I’d love to come out on top and do Rochdale proud. If I win, I wouldn’t just be representing Lancashire, but I would be representing Rochdale,” said Gwen.
