A children’s charity has hit the jackpot thanks to bingo fans in Rochdale.
There was a full house at Mecca Bingo in Rochdale as MP Simon Danczuk helped handover a £250,000 cheque for Variety, the children’s charity.
The cash was raised nationally by Mecca Bingo branches across the UK.
Mr Danczuk said: “I always have a fantastic time when I visit Mecca Bingo in Rochdale. The staff and players do a lot of great work in the community and this fundraising effort is just the latest example.
“I’m sure Variety will put the cash to good use helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.
“Well done to the staff and bingo players here in Rochdale for doing their part to help to raise £250,000 for a very worthy cause.”
